E.L.F. Cosmetics Baked Eyeshadow Palette: A REVIEW

hello beauties!
Today I'm going to review an baked eyeshadow palette that I got from ELF. The palette I got is called California. Elf has three other palettes in this series: NYC, Texas, and Seattle. California is a cool brown palette, NYC is warm blue palette, Texas is a warm brown palette, and Seattle is a cool blue palette.

My previous experience with ELF eyeshadows has been mixed. I didn't like their other palette, but I like their single eyeshadows. This palette is a prime example of this dilemma. I really love some colors because they are really pigmented and gorgeous. Other colors are pretty but not as pigmented. The other colors are bland and not pigmented at all.

I would say the best way to apply is with brushes because the pigmentation isn't as strong with brushes. It is fine to blend with brushes, but not the first application.

The palette cost $10 which is cheap as eyeshadows go, but expensive for ELF. I think there are much better products from their line that are way cheaper! Their cream and liquid liners are great and so are their blushes. And those are about $1-$3. Because I didn't LOVE the palette, I think $10 isn't worth it for ELF. Maybe $5-$7 would have been fine.

Here are some pictures:

The middle, top one and the bottom right corner are my favorites!

Top Row

Bottom Row

As you can tell from the pictures, the shadows aren't super pigmented. They have a better color payoff on my eyelids however. And they have a lot of shimmer so in the light it works better.

Anyways, just because I don't LOVE this palette, doesn't mean you wont feel differently. Go try it out and let me know what you think! Did you love it? Did you hate it? Leave a comment below!

Back to School Blues: Balance Between Beauty and Budget

hello beauties!
Sorry I haven't been on in a while. I have been really busy working, packing, and moving into school. Comment below if you would like me to do a blog post about college, and mention what you want it to be about.

Today, I'm going to talk about how to save money when you're in school. This is mainly for people in college who probably don't have a job, but I also didn't make much money in high school so it could work for you guys too.

During the summer, I was always working and earning money. This means I could spend it on beauty products whenever I wanted, because the money would come back in another two weeks (I got paid biweekly). If a new product came out, I would be able to buy it. I could go into a drugstore and pick out 5 new nail polishes just for the heck of it. If I thought a lipstick was pretty, I'd buy it. If a beauty guru on YouTube raved about an item, I would buy it. I had little control when it came to products.

Now, I am at school with only the money in my bank account, and the little money my mom sends me every now-and-then. This means I'm not making any money, and when it's gone it's gone.

I now have to carefully pick and choose what I NEED and leave behind the things I WANT.

Here is a list of things that I personally need to repurchase to keep my skin/body healthy:

  • face wash
  • moisturizer
  • body lotion
  • mouthwash
  • toothpaste
  • vitamins
With this being said, I also have a list of things that I don't NEED, but I won't leave the "house" without wearing:
  • concealer
  • eyebrow pencil/powder
  • eyeliner
  • mascara
If you are on a budget, these are the things that at most you should buy. If you want to treat yourself rarely, go for it, but for the most part, you shouldn't really buy too much stuff. And I do mean stuff. Like will you ever use that lipstick that is one shade lighter than another lipstick you already own? Probably not.

I'm not saying this list is for everyone, but it does work for me. It keeps me grounded. I know that when I'm spending this much on beauty supplies, and food, I won't be spending too much money.

I have spent more than I had and it was rough. First there was a fee for doing so. And then the wrath of my parents. My mom still brings it up to me and it happened over 5 months ago. I know now to watch what I spend.

I hope these tips are helpful to you!

Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipsticks! A REVIEW!

hello beauties!
I wanted to review some lipsticks by Kate Moss from Rimmel London. I only own three of them, and I know that's not a lot so I'm not exactly qualified to review them, but I love them so much that I thought I would anyways!

Formula: I have red shades so they are quite dry. But I like this because I know that the color won't budge. I feel like they are still hydrating.

Pigmentation: These are very pigmented! I feel like I need one sweep across my lips and it is fine. You can also strangely build color a little so that is nice. This means that the lipstick will last a long time and you wont need to repurchase them constantly.

Price: At Target, these bad boys are just under $5. This is a great price! I am so happy that these are as cheap as they are and they are such good quality. I think that I would buy them even if they were a tad more expensive. I hope the price doesn't go up, but I would still buy them if they did. I don't think that more than $10 would be worth it, but that's just my cheap opinion.

I hope that this review has helped you! If you have other great lip products that you want to share, leave it in the comments!

TARGET HAUL August 2K13!!!

hello beauties!
So I went to Target! Again! If you want to watch the video where you get to see the items close up and know the prices, here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5orMaMOOqYU

Just a heads up, you can't hear anything in the video because I forgot to turn the sound on. So I will be really descriptive here on why I bought these items. I'm sorry if you're mad at me. But still check out the video because that would make me happier. Plus you can see the products closer. And you can see me wearing one of the lipsticks!

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer: Combination Skin:
I'm not going to go into this because I wrote a post about it already so you can go check it out here:

Boots Vanilla Body Butter:

My skin gets really dehydrated especially in winter, but during all seasons. I need a lotion that will hydrate the many layers of skin. I love body butters because of the easy application. This one in particular feels wonderful on the skin and smells delicious. I really like what it does for my skin. I can really feel it sinking in.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream: Light/ Medium

I've tried this before and I've liked it. I do like the Revlon BB cream better, but this one was cheaper. I am willing to give it another try. I feel like it doesn't do all 8 of the things that it claims, but I can't pinpoint what it doesn't do. I feel like the coverage is good enough if you don't need a full face of makeup and it moisturizes well. Because of my dry skin I do use a moisturizer underneath, but generally you don't need to.

Maybelline Babylips Duo: Pink Wink, Peach Kiss

I love babylips! It is one of my favorite lip balms. I feel like my lips are nice and moisturized. They taste good too! They don't have the chapstick after-taste which I like. I got the duo because it was cheaper than buying two, and it allows me to stock up on them. I have used peach kiss before and I know that I like it so I'm excited about using a new one. For the other one, pink wink, I've never used it and I've never used one with a tint. I did test it out and it does give a sheer tint, but not a lot which I like because it's just a lip balm.

Kate Moss Lipstick: #111

I have other Kate Moss lipsticks and I really like them. Plus Zoella/Zoe Sugg likes them a lot and I really value her opinion. I would say that the red lipsticks are drying but also moisturizing. The drying is good so the red stays put.

Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara: Waterproof

I love Maybelline mascaras. My favorite would have to be The Rocket. I have heard great things about this mascara. I am excited about the lower lash wand. Although most things seem to smear under my eyes, from waterproof pencil eyeliner to mascara. I am curious to see if this works out.

That's all for the haul!
Again, I'm sorry for how things turned out for the video. Please still watch it to find out the prices of these items!

Neutrogena Moisturizer for Combination Skin: A REVIEW!

hello beauties!
So I have been loving the Neutrogena Moisturizer for a long time now. I get the one for "combination skin" because my face is both oily and dry. I am not sure if this is true or not, but I have heard that if your skin is really dry, you face produces oil to help the skin out. But as you all know, too much oil leads to acne. I am lucky and I don't have much acne, just a few spots here and there. I don't want to get more acne, so I want to protect my face from oil!

This moisturizer is scentless which I love. I don't mind scents for lotions and whatever, but I don't really like my face to smell. Plus I think that fragrance irritates the skin. Again, don't quote me on that, but I feel like I heard that somewhere.

It applies well. I feel like I can lightly massage it into my skin and it makes my skin feel soft and it doesn't leave it sticky like lotions. It is smooth and doesn't irritate the skin. I don't have to pull on my skin to rub in the moisturizer because of how easy it is to apply.

I use it both at night and during the day. I would say that it lasts longer at night, but that's just because my skin isn't as exposed. With that being said, it doesn't last as long as other moisturizers, such as Aveeno, but I ultimately like it better. I would rather like the product more and just apply it more regularly than have something I don't love on my face throughout the whole day.

It is moderately priced. I feel like I get my money's worth when I use it so I'm very happy with the cost. I would say that I would opt for a cheaper moisturizer if this one were to be more expensive. Like if the price went up significantly, I don't love it enough to pay a lot of money for it.

Overall I love this moisturizer and if you're as cheap as I am, you will love it too.

Thanks for reading! I hope you guys learned something!
