My Summer Secrets

Hello beauties!
I am going to talk about some of my summer make up tips. These will be similar to my video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtpIHnDJtk8  but not exactly the same, so go ahead and check that out as well. (It was a year ago today that it was uploaded!). So let's jump right in.

  1. Wear face make up with SPF in it. I would go for a BB cream because it is lighter than a foundation and it feels better in the heat of the summer. If you still would like more coverage, I would still go for a foundation with SPF. Wearing sunscreen underneath make up would make your face really greasy, but with the SPF built in it makes it less greasy and more dewy. Obviously, if you are going to be laying in the sun all day, you should wear SPF under your make up, but it isn't needed for a day-by-day basis.
  2. Make sure the rest of your make up has either a cream base, or a primer. For example you can use cream blushes or eyeshadows and they will last through the sweat and the heat. You can set them with powder on top if you would like and the color will stay through the day as well. Honestly though,  with a powder on top the eyeshadows may crease a bit with the heat, but the color should stay.
  3. Wear waterproof eye make up. I use waterproof eyeliner and mascaras again because of the sweating. I feel like it makes it last all through the heat. Also waterproof is good for oily skin, which a lot get oilier during summer.
  4. Use a lot of lip balm. Your lips will be chapped quite a lot in the summer and it is great to keep them nice and moisturized. I like using a lip balm with SPF in it so I don't burn and further dry out my lips.
  5. Finally, drink a LOT of water! This will keep your skin nice and healthy looking. Drinking water helps keep your face moisturized, and it helps with the dark bags under your eyes. Water will also help the chapped lips. Overall, drinking lots of water will help you this summer. Tip: if your pee is clear, it means you are fully hydrated.

My Favorite Beauty Gurus on YouTube

Hello beauties!

I would just like to share a few of my favorite beauty gurus on YouTube. Now I'm not an expert and I haven't watched all of them out there, or even close to that. I am someone who watched a few and that was enough and I'm just starting to dive into them. So don't be offended if you aren't on this list, or your favorites aren't on it either. I just haven't gotten to them yet! I don't think there are beauty gurus that I dislike, it might just be that I already watch someone in that same style or something. Anyways, here we go!

My all time favorite would be Zoe "Zoella/ Zoella280390" Sugg.
She is so adorable and her accent is amazing. I could watch her all day. I have a huge girl crush on her. Even though she doesn't do many tutorials, I still highly value her opinions. She does a combination of make up, fashion, and vlog-y type videos. Like when I say vlog-y they are directed vlogs or viral tags, not a "let's follow me on my day" type of vlog (which she does do on her second channel however). I just love her personality and I love watching her.

The best at make up would be Tanya Burr.
Tanya also has a great accent and I could also watch her all day. She is very kind and just very lovable. Her tutorials are amazing and I love how she can pretty much recreate any look she sets out to do. She is talented beyond belief and I would check her out if you don't already. She does use mostly high end products so it can be depressing in the wallet area if you are in the "broke college student" category like I am. Her tutorials are very idiot proof and anyone watching them could follow along (maybe not be as good as her, but c'mon who is?).

Now I am just going to list the other gurus that I love and are happily subscribed to. This doesn't mean that I don't love them as much as Tanya or Zoe, but I just would be repeating myself too much while describing the others. These girls are favorites of mine but I can't pinpoint the reasons like I can with Tanya and Zoe. So here's the list in no particular order!

May Favorites 2013!

Hello beauties!
I just want to share the things I have been loving in the month of May including beauty and fashion items, to randoms. I will give a brief description, but I promise it won't be too lengthy. So let's dive right in!

Hair:
For hair I have only really been loving one product which would be the John Frieda "Frizz Ease Heat Defeat" spray. I talked about this in my last post about my hair care routine and I just love it. It has a nice spray, not too light and not too heavy, and I feel like it does a great job protecting and keeping my hair under control.

Make up:
I am in love with so many great make up products this month, because I have discovered new beauty gurus on YouTube and they have great suggestions. So now, I would love to share them with you guys.

  • Face: Out of all of my face products, I am loving the Revlon "Photo Ready BB Cream". I am in the shade "light" if you are wondering. I just feel like it is great if you are either new to the make up world, or you don't want to bother with a foundation. I feel like it moisturizes my skin, and gives a nice dewy/glowing finish to my skin. It doesn't have the best coverage, so I just use it as a base, but still, I am in love with this product.
  • Eyes: I am loving Revlon's cream eyeshadow pallet in "Not Just Nudes", but especially the pinky-champagne color, and the light beige color. I feel like they are well pigmented and last all day. Sometimes I use them on their own and they are wonderful, or I would put powder eyeshadow on top and either way the color lasts all day. I have been loving this pallet for a long time now and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a neutral eye.
  • Lips: I am OBSESSED with Maybelline's "Baby Lips" lip balms. They moisturize my lips well and for a long time. I have the color "Peach Kiss" which tastes just like peaches and does not give the gross lip balmy aftertaste! I also find that it gives off a slight tint, which I like. I haven't tried the actual tinted ones, but I'm guessing they are well pigmented. And they have SPF so that's a win
Skin:
I have rediscovered Neutrogena's "Wave" face cleanser. I have just recently started to pay more attention to my skin and I feel that this cleanser is a great start. I have used this product before, but I became really lazy. Now that I'm using it again, I love it. I feel like it is gentle enough so that it doesn't pull on my skin, but rough enough to get the extra dirt and make up that other products just don't get. And it is way cheaper than other cleansers out there.

Fashion:
As it is summer and I just wear pretty lazy outfits, I don't have a piece that I wear more than others. I might skip this section until I stop being lazy (which might be in August when I go back to school!)

Randoms:
I don't have many randoms this month that I can think of at the top of my head, but I will name a few. I have been loving Crystal Light's peach tea packets. I just pop the packet into a tall glass of water and I am set. It is so good and it is sweet. If you don't like sweet things, this is not for you. But I do! I have also been loving Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack" and "Made in the USA" for music, as well as Daft Punk's "Get Lucky". I can tell that these will be my summer jams as long as the radio doesn't overplay them!

That's all for me!
Comment if you love these products too, or would like to know more.

My Hair-Care Routine

Hello beauties!

My hair has turned really gross, for lack of a better term, suddenly and I don't like it one bit. This is only because I dip-dyed my hair which needed bleaching and coloring so double the damage. I only added more damage to curling my hair, as it looks cooler with dip-dyed hair. Granted I didn't curl my hair every day like other "gurus" but still, it was more than usual with my fancy red tips. Another thing was that I never cut my hair while  I was at school so it got really long without any trims. Anyways, my hair turned icky(er) after the dye wore out and I NEEDED to make it healthier. I don't use a lot of products because I fall under the "broke college student" category, but what I do use I will mention below.

I first started with Herbal Essences "Hello Hydration" shampoo and conditioner. This stuff smells amazing. It has a scent of coconuts, and even though I don't like the flavor to eat, I love the smell. The set is an old favorite of mine and I was instantly reminded why. It hydrated my hair so well. I remember after using it for just a week my friend noticed a huge difference and she even complimented me on my healthy-looking hair. The set is very inexpensive and it lasts a long time. I have very thick, long hair that needs a lot of conditioner and it still lasted me a long time. Obviously the shampoo outlasted the conditioner but because of it's beautiful cheap prices, I don't mind restocking the conditioner.

Next I have been loving the John Frieda "Fritz Ease Heat Defeat" for straight hair. I use this spray for blowdrying my hair. First, the mist is a good size and covers a lot of hair without making my hair soaking. The scent is fresh and smells like a hair salon. I personally like this scent, because it is fresh and doesn't make me smell like I have a million things going on. I can't really tell if my hair is protected from the heat, but that doesn't mean it isn't working. I actually think that if I don't feel a difference it is working because otherwise my hair would be dead and overly dry. It does make my hair less frizzy, but if your hair is naturally really frizzy, you will need more products to tame your hair than just this one. For me however, it works well.

Occasionally I will use argan oil in my hair. I'm not sure of the brand as it just came with my blow dryer, but I think any will do. I either use a little drop in the mornings I don't wash my hair to add a little bit of shine, or I use a penny sized drop, which is bigger, at night to let it soak in nutrients. I don't see much difference on my normal hair, but there is a HUGE difference at the ends of my hair. My bleached hair doesn't look as dead and damaged and it helps my hair look healthier.

***

So those are all the products I use. I know that isn't too special, but I thought it was worth sharing. I think it is important to know that the phrase "little goes a long way" really comes true as I only use 3 hair products and they have made my hair look great. Obviously with more products, it would look better, but I am pleased with how my hair looks now. It isn't damaged, and it is very hydrated which I like. You don't need to spend a lot of money to have great hair.
