Target Haul

Hello beauties!
I recently went to Target. I love this store and it basically owns my soul and my bank account. I thought I would share what I got with you. To find the prices of the items, watch my video!

Disclaimer: I bought all of these products with my own money. All opinions are my own and were not funded.

Neutrogena Wave Pads

See my Skincare Routine to know more about these!
http://jodiemartinn.blogspot.com/2013/06/my-skincare-routine-june-2013.html

Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Lotion (With Sunscreen)
I've never tried either of these products and I am excited to try them out.

The green bottle is scented Lime Coolata. It smells fresh. I mostly just smell the lime.
The tan bottle smells like bananas and nailpolish remover

Revlon Foundation
I like Revlon's BB cream so I decided to give this a whirl. I will do a review on this so look out for that!

Maybelline Concealer
I've used this before, but not when I was really into make up. I remember it working well. I will do a review on it after I give it another go.

Loreal Color Riche Lip Balm
I've had this product before in a different color. I really like them. I think they are very hydrating. They have SPF which I like! I think the color payoff is really good. It gives a nice tint to the lips, but it isn't opaque. It also gives a nice glossy finish.

Rimmel London Eyeliner
I've used Rimmel eyeliners before. I really like them and they don't smudge on me, which most eyeliners do. This one is black and builds up color. It's really soft so it wont tug on my eyelids or waterline. They really are waterproof. To get the black swatches off my hand I tried to use water and it didn't work. I had to either scrub with water to get to fade, or use makeup removing pads. This makes me excited because now I am 98% sure that it wont smudge which is great.

These are the swatches of the lip balm and eyeliner!

Check out my other Target Haul this month! Geesh! I do go to Target a lot.

Aeropostale Haul!

Hello beauties!
Recently I bought some items from Aeropostale so I thought I would share them with you.

Disclaimer: I work at Aeropostale so I do get an employee discount so these items were not full price. All opinions are my own and I was not paid extra by Aeropostale to do this haul.

I posted a video about this haul where you can check out the prices. I will put a link at the end.

First I got a graphic t-shirt that is supposed to say " I love mustaches". I chose it so I can make it into a tank top right before I go back to school. For now, I am keeping it a shirt so I can wear it to work. I will do a post about how to make shirts into tanks later on when I do this shirt.

Next I got a pair or high-waisted shorts. These are a soft material like what shirts feel like. They are dressier than gym shorts but super comfortable. They have pockets and have a stripe down the side. They come in other colors and patterns so you should check them out.

Next I got this babydoll top. It is corset like at the top,  tight at the waist, and then fans out at the bottom. I really like this top with its lace detailing at the top. I think it is flattering and can easily be dressed up or down.

Then I got this black v-neck. I just thought that it is a good staple clothing item. I have a whole video on staple clothing which I will link at the bottom.

Next I got some jewelry. They were buy one get one free so I obviously took the deal. First I got these earrings. They are round dangle earrings. They have a nice pattern in the middle with rhinestones. I thought they were really cute.

Next I got this amazing necklace. This was the reason I wanted to get jewelry in the first place. It is a layered necklace with triangular studs. I think it is very simple and geometric and I really like it.

Lastly, I got this necklace. It is a long chain that just hangs down. I think it is so cute and gives dimension to any outfit. I think it is a great accessory to add to any plain outfit to put it all together. I really like the arrow detailing at the top.

That's all I bought! Feel free to share your hauls because I would love to see them.
Please feel free to comment about anything as it would really brighten my day.
I feel like all I am getting are robot viewers and it would be cool to see that my blog is getting human viewers too.

DIY Facemask

Hello beauties!
Here's just a quick post about the face mask I just made. I have made too much of it so I'll be able to test it out more than once so I can let you know a more detailed opinion after I get to wear it more.

First, I'll let you know the ingredients and what they are good for:
Half of an avocado [moisturize]
1 Tablespoon of olive oil [anti-oxidant/cell renewing]
1 Tablespoon of lemon juice [acne/redness]
1 Egg (just the egg whites) [pores]
1 Tablespoon of honey [moisturize]

I got this recipe from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m2XI2MHJcs
Where DailyMix has Jim Chapman and Zoe Sugg make these face masks. I thought it was easy enough to make and I finally decided to make it. It is very simple if you follow the instructions.

As it said in the video, I kept it on for 10 minutes. They said 10-15, but my face started to tingle a few seconds before I was going to take it off. I think it would have started burning if I hadn't taken it off then.

Rinsing it was a little tricky as the honey made it very sticky. I didn't have to scrape it off though, I just had to rinse it off a little more and I was all set.

Now, my face feels very soft and very smooth. I did however wash and tone my face before this so it isn't all the mask's doing. I will say that I  did notice a difference between after I finished washing my face to after I washed the face mask off.

Thanks for reading! I hope you liked the quick update.
See you guys soon.

My Skincare Routine June 2013

Hello beauties!
I'm going to explain what I have been using on my face at night. I have just recently started to really get into skin care products. I have always used a few things like moisturizer, but now I've started to dive into the world of skin care. My routine is not complete yet, but it's good enough for a blog post so here we go!

First, I take off my make up on the surface of my face with Simple Cleansing Wipes. These make my skin feel so fresh and I know that it is clean. It does a good job with my face make up and a decent job with my eye make up. I know it isn't for eyes specifically but it's what I'm using while I search for eye make up remover.

Next, I use H2O+ Marine Toner on a couple of cotton balls to further cleanse and tone my face. I've just started using this, but I already like it. I might do a detailed review on it after I use it for a few weeks. It takes off even more make up (the make up you didn't know you even had left on your face), and obviously tones your face. This just means that it'll help take out discoloration and even out your skin tone. From what I've researched it does not have bleach in it so it won't bleach your skin. Its healthy products will even the skin tone without using harmful bleach which is a plus.

Then I use Clean and Clear Advantage Daily Soothing Scrub. This helps exfoliate my skin as well as beat up my acne. It makes my skin feel so smooth afterwards and it makes my pores smaller without feeling tingly. I use my fingers to apply this, but I use my Neutrogena Wave to work it into my face. I then rinse my face leaving my skin feeling nice and smooth.

I then moisturize using my Neutrogena Daily Moisturizer for "combination skin". After exfoliating, this product goes nice and smoothly over my skin and makes it feel healthier.

I then use The Body Shop's eye gel. I gently pat this under my eyes and on my eyelids. This isn't the best undereye treatment, but it does the job.

Lastly, I use Maybelline's BabyLips and I head to bed.

Clearly, my skincare routine is not complete as I am lacking some products, but that's what it is right now. I hope you have enjoyed reading this. Feel free to comment with any tips you might have for me.

REVIEW Revlon Creme Shadow: 710 Not Just Nudes

Hello beauties!
As promised awhile ago, I have done swatches on the cream eyeshadows that Revlon makes. I love this pallet so much and I cannot get over them. They are super pigmented which I love. They also blend well so if the colors are too harsh for you, you can just blend it out a lot and it'll lessen the intensity of the color. They also do not crease and last all day. Disclaimer: if you put a powder shadow on top, those might crease a little after a few hours, but the cream base doesn't. These shadows aren't the best bases, but they are affordable and work well for what they are worth. Plus you get 4 colors instead of 1 and I think that is a great deal. Now, without further ado, here are the swatches on my hands.

This is what the pallet looks like when it is closed.
Obviously there are a mixture of matte nudes and shimmery colors. Sidenote, this packaging is really cute. I love how it is so simple and geometric.
To the right, is what the colors look like when the pallet is opened. They are so smooth and apply nicely. They are creamy to apply but obviously will end up dry on the lids later on. They don't dry to be really powdery which is good as it avoids fallout as it dries.
This last picture displays the swatches on my hand. They are very pigmented as you can see. They all have a glowy finish to them, even the matte ones. I like this because even though there isn't sparkle in the first and third one, they still add flare to your eyes. The first color is a light beige color. I like to use this to correct coloration to my eyes. I don't really use it as an eyeshadow on its own. The second color is a beige champagne color. I WILL use this color by itself because I think its so pretty. But obviously to add dimension, I will blend colors on top. The third color, a muddy light brown, is what I have been using the most lately (just because the first two colors have run out). I like it, but I will never leave it on its own. It's too dark for my skin/eye color. I have to add other colors to it. The last color is a shimmery chocolate brown. It is hard for me to work into my makeup because I like lighter colors on me. I have been using it more, but I blend it out a lot to make the color more subtle. I could use it as an outer corner color, but I would have to practice a lot before I go out in public like that.

Oh, You're Into Beauty?

Hello beauties!

Today I am going to write about what to do when you are not getting support on loving beauty related items.

For instance, anytime my mom sees me watching a beauty video on YouTube, she always rolls her eyes. This is just because she doesn't understand it. She isn't a girly girl at all and doesn't understand why I would want to take minutes of my day to pamper myself. I try to explain to her that I just like doing it and I like knowing how to do it. Most of the time she just shakes her head and tell me that I am beautiful without any make up. Well I would hope she thinks that being that she is my mom. Anyways, this can get quite frustrating and it makes me want to just quit sometimes because I know I will never please her. But I really love doing my make up and hair and I like that I know certain techniques. So even though my mom doesn't understand, I still do it. It doesn't harm our relationship because she doesn't care about the "issue" enough, but I do get nagged every once in awhile.

So this is a post on how to get through life while surrounded by people that don't quite understand.

First of all, try to show them pictures of Halloween and special effects (SFX) make up. This way they can see how much of a transformation someone can have with make up alone. I tried this with my mom and she thought it was interesting. Then explain that it is the same thing with normal make up but way less extreme.

Next, just repeat the fact that you like doing beauty related stuff and that you care about it. For me, it relaxes me to do my make up. I love doing it and I feel so comfortable when I am doing it. For my mom, she likes to sit down with a glass of wine and do a Sudoku puzzle. Everyone has their thing and mine happens to be make up. I love creating new looks or following someone's tutorial. It is fun for me and I love learning new tricks.

If those two things don't work and time has gone by, just come to terms to agree to disagree. You do your thing and hopefully they will leave you alone. If it is a friend instead of a family member, just state boldly that you like to do it and it isn't bothering them so why should they care. If they are truly your friend, they won't care if you bother with hair or make up and they might actually think it is pretty cool.

What really helps me is when people say to me that they like my hair or they like my make up. It gets me to realize that I must be doing something right and it makes me happy that I never gave up. I do my make up for me and me alone because I like knowing how to do it and I like having it as a skill.

Basically for my advice in sum, do what you love and keep doing it. Don't let people get in your way. They don't have to be interested in it (even though it would be cool if they were), they just have to understand that you like it and they should be happy that you have a talent and a hobby.

I'm sorry to anyone that has further problems with beauty related "bullying". I am aware that not every situation will be the same. I know that even though my mom doesn't understand, she keeps most of her opinions to herself and lets me do what I'm doing. I know that not everyone can be as fortunate as  I am and some might be more. I'm just trying to give some advice based on my experiences.

See you guys soon with the other posts I promised.

Kisses!

Small Haul Target Edition June 2013

Hello beauties!
So today I went to Target to pick up some items. I made a video briefly talking about these products which you can watch here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQxKJXy9lWs but I go more in depth in this post. (The list here might be in a different order than in the video, just a heads up). Also all prices are in the video so if you want to know, I would check the video out!

Disclaimer: I bought all these items with my own money and all the opinions are mine.

I got black gym shorts with white pipeline detailing. They have built in underwear. I don't have much to say about these shorts, i just needed a new pair.

Next, I  got Simple make up removing wipes. Now they have two types the exfoliating and the cleansing. I got the cleansing because they are softer on and around the eyes which I like. If you get really close to the opening of the eye, it'll burn a bit, but WAY less than other brands. I feel like it does a great job with face make up and I only need one wipe per face of make up. It isn't the best for eyes, but that's what eye make up remover is for! The scent is fresh and doesn't give me a headache which is a plus.

I also got Clean and Clear acne scrub. I've never tried this product before but I like the brand so I'm excited to try it out. Look out for a blog post on either this product or a skin care routine!

Next, I repurchased Revlon's cream eyeshadow pallet in Not Just Nudes.  This is a constant favorite of mine and my two favorite colors I hit pan on and decided to splurge on a new pallet. I am figuring out how to use the other two darker colors and look out for a post about this pallet and how I do it soon.

Another repurchase is Crystal Light Iced Peach Tea individual packets. This is amazing. You can read more about these in my May Favorites post which you can find here http://jodiemartinn.blogspot.com/2013/05/may-favorites-2013.html

That's all!
Look out for my upcoming posts:
A review on Revlon Cream Eyeshadow Not Just Nudes

Skin care routine or a Clean and Clear acne scrub review
